Terms of Service
Last updated: March 1, 2026
1. Program Overview
BrightRoot is a structured after-school academic enrichment program operated by Scientia Vitae Academy ("we," "us," or "BrightRoot"). Enrollment is selective and cohort-based. By enrolling a student or using the platform, the parent, guardian, or authorized school representative agrees to these terms.
2. Age Requirement and Parental Consent
BrightRoot serves students ages 8–17. Students under 13 may not use the platform without verifiable parental or guardian consent.
For students under 13: A parent or guardian must provide consent before the student's account is created. By allowing a student under 13 to enroll, the parent or guardian confirms they have reviewed and agreed to our Privacy Policy, including how we collect and use their child's data.
For school and organization enrollments: The teacher or administrator completing the enrollment confirms they have obtained written parental consent for each student under 13 prior to enrollment, and that they are authorized to agree to these terms on behalf of the enrolling institution.
3. Enrollment & Tuition
Enrollment is confirmed upon acceptance and receipt of the first month's tuition. Tuition is billed monthly for the duration of the cohort. Continued participation requires timely payment. Failure to pay may result in suspension from the cohort.
Subscriptions renew automatically each month. You may cancel at any time before the next billing date by emailing [email protected]. Cancellation stops future charges but does not entitle you to a refund of the current period. See our Refund Policy for details.
4. AI-Assisted Instruction
BrightRoot uses AI-guided instruction alongside human teacher oversight. AI avatars deliver structured lessons while qualified educators monitor sessions, review student progress, and intervene when needed. AI is a teaching tool — teachers remain accountable for each student's experience.
5. Acceptable Use
Students and users of the platform agree not to:
- Share login credentials or access another person's account
- Submit harmful, offensive, or inappropriate content
- Attempt to access, copy, or reverse-engineer the platform or curriculum
- Use the platform for any commercial purpose without written permission
BrightRoot reserves the right to remove a student from the program if their conduct interferes with the learning environment. Parents will be notified before any removal.
6. School and Organization Use
Schools and organizations that enroll students agree that the teacher or administrator completing enrollment is responsible for obtaining and documenting parental consent for all students, particularly those under 13. The school or organization agrees to maintain those consent records and provide them to BrightRoot upon request.
7. Intellectual Property
All curriculum, lesson content, platform software, and BrightRoot materials are the property of Scientia Vitae Academy. Student-created work (reflections, projects, sketches) remains the student's property. We may use anonymized, aggregated data — with no names or identifying information — to improve the program.
8. Data and Privacy
Your use of BrightRoot is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these terms by reference. We comply with COPPA (US) and GDPR (UK/EU) requirements. Parents have the right to review, correct, and request deletion of their child's personal data at any time by contacting [email protected].
9. Limitation of Liability
BrightRoot provides educational enrichment and is not a substitute for formal schooling. We make no guarantees regarding specific academic outcomes. Our liability is limited to the tuition paid for the current billing period.
10. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Delaware, or by binding arbitration at BrightRoot's election.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms with reasonable notice. Material changes will be communicated via email at least 14 days in advance. Continued enrollment after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
